49 km from guntur,Bhavanarayanaswami temple at Bapatla is dedicated to Lord Bhavanarayana swamy,who came to be known as Bapaltla with time. It is the most ancient and famous temples of all the temples in Guntur District and is of immense historical and architectural importance. One of the oldest temples in Guntur District. It�s Gopuram was built from a single rock. It is beleived to be 1500 year old, and some of the inscriptions on the wall are in Telugu script which was still evolving at that time. Chariot festival in summer used to be lot of fun and common people can participate by pulling the Lord�s Chariot up to Anjaneyaswamy temple and back. It is still a fact that many people(saints, seekers, sadhakas, devotees and common people) feel some unknown power, calmness, peace in the temple. This temple is said to belong to Mauryan period and the presiding deity is Bhavanarayanaswami. The temple is well connected by rail/bus routes and lies on the Madras-Calcutta Line. The name of the town Baptala derives its name from the presiding deity of this temple, Bhavanarayana Swami. The Baptla town was also called Bhavapuri during the time of Mauryan Empire
